Microelectronic device continues to show promise
Fort Lauderdale, FL-A subretinal micro-photodiode-based silicon chip (Artificial Silicon Retina, ASR) implanted in patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) appears to be safe while showing continued improvement in both subjective and objective measures of visual function, said Alan Y. Chow, MD, at the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology here.
