Norristown, PA-The FDA has cleared the Fugo Blade for peripheral iridotomy (PI) creation for angle-closure glaucoma and with IOLs, including AC IOLs and phakic IOLs.

The blade is sold in the United States for capsulotomy and for transciliary filtration or Singh Filtration. The PI application allows the surgeon to precisely place the PI by touching the blade's blunt tip to the iris, creating the iridotomy by plasma ablation of iris tissue. The company says this method is quick, precise, and virtually eliminates bleeding.
