Florida halts HMO mandate to see optometrist first
Washington, DC-The Florida Society of Ophthalmology, with the help of the Amer-ican Academy of Ophthalmology and other allies, scored a major victory for patients when the Florida legislature struck down a state law that allowed HMOs to force a costly, time-consuming, and possibly harm-ful redundancy onto eye-care patients.
