FDA approves solution for soft contact lenses

Fort Worth, TX—The FDA has approved Alcon's Opti-Free RepleniSH Multipurpose Disinfecting Solution (MPDS) for use with all soft contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel lenses.

Fort Worth, TX-The FDA has approved Alcon's Opti-Free RepleniSH Multipurpose Disinfecting Solution (MPDS) for use with all soft contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel lenses.

The solution contains TearGlyde, a wetting system designed to keep the lens surface moist all day. It reconditions the lens surface to retain moisture for enhanced comfort, the company said.

Ralph Stone, PhD, Alcon's vice president of consumer products and clinical operations, called the product "a significant advancement in the field of contact lens solutions."
