Baltimore-Anthony J. Kameen, MD, and his family received a proclamation from outgoing Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich as a tribute to their involvement with the Helping Up Mission of Baltimore.

The Helping Up Mission provides hope to the poor and homeless through programs designed to meet their individual physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. Dr. Kameen serves on the medical services committee of the mission, and he helped establish a free eye clinic where he donates his time and professional services to underprivileged patients who would otherwise go untreated.

Dr. Kameen also has become chairman of the "Build A Community of Hope" capital campaign with the mission. He actively promotes the organization in the Baltimore community, recruiting additional support and publicizing the program to those who qualify. Making their philanthropic work a family affair, his wife provides arts and design consulting to enhance the mission's facilities for participants and visitors.
