Corneal surface can be rebuilt with patient’s oral mucosal epithelium
Osaka, Japan-Sheets of tissue-engineered epithelial cells from a patient's oral mucosal epithelium can be used as a source of cells to rebuild a destroyed corneal surface. This unique approach is an alternative to allograft transplantation and it eliminates the need for immunosuppressive therapy.
