ARVO will continue, no reported swine flu in Florida

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meeting attendees along with ARVO staff have started to arrive in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale, FL-The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meeting attendees along with ARVO staff have started to arrive in Fort Lauderdale.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Florida does not have any reported swine flu cases. Registrants who must cancel due to their governments’ decision to withhold travel funds or other reasons should be advised to:

  • Notify the ARVO office at arvo@arvo.org their reason for not attending;

  • Contact their hotels in Florida to cancel their reservations. Hotels may impose cancellation fees.

Attendees who are traveling to the ARVO annual meeting are encouraged to exercise the recommended regular precautions, such as extra hand washing. A limited supply of facemasks will be available on site for those who wish to use them. Hand sanitizers will be in meeting rooms and restrooms.

Check the CDC Traveler's Health page www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ periodically for status within the United States.
