Angiogenesis research is unifying principle for diseases, says Dr.Folkman

Angiogenesis research is providing the unifying principle for diseases,which although they have different names and are treated by different specialists,are dominated by the same pathologic process. Employing the same class ofdrugs, in turn, can treat them.That was the message Judah Folkman, MD, the founding father of angiogenesisresearch, delivered to the ARVO attendees Sunday during the 75th AnniversaryKeynote Symposium. Dr. Folkman, the Andrus Professor of pediatric surgeryand professor of cell biology at Harvard Medical School, delivered the keynoteaddress.
