Advanced Medical Optics introduces phaco system with dual-pump fluidics

San Diego-Advanced Medical Optics Inc. has introduced a new phacoemulsification system featuring dual-pump fluidics (WhiteStar Signature with Fusion).

Santa Ana, CA-Advanced Medical Optics Inc. has introduced a new phacoemulsification system featuring dual-pump fluidics (WhiteStar Signature with Fusion).

The system “combines the efficiency and safety of [existing] phaco technology with improved fluidics that enhance chamber stability,” said David F. Chang, MD, clinical professor of ophthalmology, University of California, San Francisco. “The dual pump represents the next generation in phaco fluidics.”

According to the company, the fluidics technology reduces post-occlusion surge by a significant margin, and the dual pump responsiveness offers the performance of a venturi pump and the control of a peristaltic flow-based pump. Also, the system consists of a streamlined user interface and accessories-including a one-step, one-hand cassette; a touch screen; and a help feature -designed to ease use of the equipment during surgery.
