Fort Lauderdale, FL-ABB Optical has launched an online lens ordering Web site, http://www.abboptical.com/. Available around the clock to all ABB accounts, the service extends Internet access beyond the VisionWeb and Eyefinity portals, which will remain available to ABB customers.

"Every major supplier of contact lenses in the United States reports an increased share of orders being received online," said Angel Alvarez, ABB chief executive officer. "This is occurring as more practitioners become Internet-savvy and acquire continuous, high-speed access. At the same time, supplier Web sites are becoming easier to use."

Every soft lens from every major manufacturer can now be ordered through a single site at http://www.abboptical.com/. That means practitioners can save administrative time and avoid the need to learn the idiosyncrasies of each manufacturer's Web site.

"Practitioners who routinely use the Internet to order soft lenses are achieving significant transactional efficiencies and higher net profits, which is driving more and more volume through this channel," said Alvarez.

To register to use the service, visit http://www.abboptical.com/, click-on "First Time Users," and complete the application.
