Washington, DC-Vision advocates met with more than 60 participants of a recent congressional briefing and press conference to raise awareness about a vision-care bill for children.

The briefing educated attendees about the need to improve vision care for children and encouraged their support of the bill. Speakers included pediatric ophthalmologist Jean Ramsey, MD.

The bill, called the "Vision Care for Kids Act of 2007," aims to fund proper follow-up treatment for children identified through a screening process as potentially having a vision problem. The bill has bipartisan support in the House of Representatives and an equivalent bill in the Senate.
