Physicians can help bridge gap in health-care disparities
Dr. Higginbotham outlined various studies of inequities in health-care treatment of African Americans that have had devastating results. In 1995, the disparity in death rate from ischemic heart disease between black and white Americans was large. Hypertension is seen at a lower age and is less likely to be treated in this minority group.
