Bascom Palmer residency program recognized with Ophthalmology Times award

The residency program at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami School of Medicine, was recognized as part of Ophthalmology Times? 2005 Best Program Awards.

Chicago-The residency program at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami School of Medicine, was recognized as part of Ophthalmology Times’ 2005 Best Program Awards.

Each year, the magazine conducts a poll of chairmen and residency directors in ophthalmology programs across the United States. Categories include best overall, best clinical, best research, and best residency programs.

Sheryl Stevenson, managing editor of Ophthalmology Times, presented the award to Steven Gedde, MD, residency program director, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, who accepted the award on behalf of Carmen Puliafito, MD, and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Also on hand to accept the award was Eduardo Alfonso, MD, professor of ophthalmology and the Edward W.D. Norton Chair in Ophthalmology.

The award was presented before Bascom Palmer alumni and friends at the group's party at the Four Seasons Hotel Sunday evening.
