Ophthalmic professionals arriving for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) 2007 joint symposium and congress here were treated to a special event Friday evening.

The welcome reception at SeaWorld San Diego allowed attendees to share an evening of fun and food in the setting of a marine-life park. Among the highlights were simulated helicopter flights over the Artic. Upon deplaning, attendees observed beluga whales, polar bears, walruses, and penguins.

In addition, attendees visited the tropical environment of the Shark Encounter, rode the Journey to Atlantis water coaster, and tried their skill at the Coco Loco Arcade. The park's famous killer whale, Shamu, was one of the highlights among the crowd.

The program was supported by grants from ASCRS/ASOA and Advanced Medical Optics Inc.
