Will tilt, decentration affect wavefront-corrected IOL result?
Doubts and concerns regarding efficacy and safety often accompany the introduction of technologies in IOLs. Recent concerns with a wavefront-corrected IOL (Tecnis, Advanced Medical Optics [AMO]) with regard to tilt and decentration are no exception to this rule.

Eye models employing monochromatic, symmetric optics advise tight tolerances for IOLs correcting spherical aberration. For example, decentration of this modified prolate IOL in a symmetric cornea eye model with a population average amount of spherical aberration produces degradation of contrast equivalent to a standard spherical IOL at 0.4 mm.
