Why prevention is physicians' first responsibility
When President Eisenhower had a heart attack while in office, the nation was instantly focused on coronary artery disease. In the ensuing half century, the general public has been made increasingly aware of the risks factors associated with heart disease. This growing body of knowledge on the part of North Americans has fueled much of the revolution in lifestyle habits that we have seen over the past generation.
