Paramus, NJ-Topcon Medical Systems Inc. has acquired Anka Systems Inc., formerly a privately held company located in McLean, VA.

Topcon manufactures precision ophthalmic and optical instruments for general and specialized applications. Anka focuses on providing networking and software to manage, analyze, and interpret digital images in clinics and hospitals. Its EyeRoute networking product currently connects to more than 10 different types of instruments from multiple vendors, allowing hundreds of U.S. ophthalmologists specializing in the retina, glaucoma, and general ophthalmology to access patient tests in a single document.
