Long Island, NY-Natural Athletic Nutrition LLC, a Long Island-based nutrition company, has introduced a product (Vizuo XL Sports Vision Enhancement) that contains lutein and zeaxanthin. These two ingredients, according to the company, can improve photostress recovery under glare conditions, which can be beneficial to athletes who play their sports on a cloudy day.

"One of the most exciting aspects of the product is its ability to speed the development of sport specific motor skills and potentially decrease the amount of time it takes to reach an elite level of performance," says company president Will Horan.

The phytonturients in fruits and vegetables are found in high concentration in the macular of the eye. Studies have found that lutein and zeaxanthin not only prevent macular degeneration of the eye but can improve vision in people with healthy eyes., according to the company; supplements can be used to obtain these nutrients, especially because, according to the USDA, only 11% of Americans are meeting its guidelines by increasing vegetable and fruit consumption.
