Physicians' changing roles explored in paper

Fairfax, VA—The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) 's Clinical Committees are ready to publish the first in a series of white papers on ophthalmic practice and clinical issues.

The paper, "The Patient-Physician Relationship: How to Transition to Practice," will be made available to ASCRS members and others through the Web site, http://www.ascrs.org/. Written by members of the Young Physicians and Residents Committee, the paper details how the graduating ophthalmology resident or fellow should prepare for transitioning between roles as clinician/surgeon and business manager and more.

Three other papers-on managing infectious keratitis, electronic medical records, and clear cornea incisions-are due to be published in May, July, and in the fall.
