OIS subsidiary acquires Acermed Inc.'s assets

Sacramento, CA-Ophthalmic Imaging Systems (OIS) acquired substantially all of the assets of Acermed, Inc., which was done through OIS' new subsidiary, Abraxas Medical Solutions Inc., and was approved by the California Central Bankruptcy Court. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sacramento, CA-Ophthalmic Imaging Systems (OIS) acquired substantially all of the assets of Acermed, Inc., which was done through OIS' new subsidiary, Abraxas Medical Solutions Inc., and was approved by the California Central Bankruptcy Court. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AcerMed software automates the clinical, administrative, and financial operations of a medical office. The software has been certified by the Center for Certification of Health Information Technology.

AcerMed's former Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Bina has been named president of Abraxas. Seven former employees of AcerMed have signed employment agreements with Abraxas. OIS anticipates investing $2 million on the expansion of operations of Abraxas in all departments, including R&D, technical support, and sales.
