IKA Keratoconus Symposium 2023: New data presented for epi-on cross-linking

John D. Gelles, OD, and Steven A. Greenstein, MD, share some insights into the new data on corneal cross-linking presented at IKA Keratoconus Symposium.

Video transcript

John D. Gelles, OD, FAAO, FIAOMIC, FCLSA, FSLS:
I'm John Gelles from the Cornea & Laser Eye Institute, the CLEI Center for Keratoconus.

Steven A. Greenstein, MD:
And I'm Steven Greenstein from the Cornea & Laser Eye Institute as well and the CLEI Center for Keratoconus. We're really excited to be at the first annual IKA meeting; we've heard so many amazing presentations.

We spoke about some of the new and exciting data on cross-linking, particularly epi-on cross-linking and some of the adjunctive treatments like topo-guided PRK and corneal inlays with cross-linking treatment.

Gelles:
Yes, this this lecture was really seminal in this because we're trying to accomplish the concept of comprehensive keratoconus management and going from not just stability, but also what you can do to improve corneal topography and to improve vision for individuals so that you're taking into account not just their vision with contact lenses, but also their vision when they're not wearing their contacts.

Greenstein:
We look forward to the next meeting next year in Washington, DC!
