Neuroprotection, repair of optic nerve closer to reality
New Orleans-Researchers have made great strides in understandingoptic nerve protection, repair, and regeneration. It may soon be possibleto restore vision in persons whose sight is threatened or has been lostfrom disease or damage to the optic nerve, according to Neil R. Miller,MD, recipient of the Jackson Memorial Award at the annual meeting of theAmerican Academy of Ophthalmology here last fall.
