MIGS + medication provides IOP-lowering benefit

The Oculus Corvis ST, a non-contact tonometer and optical pachymeter, has received the approval of the U.S. FDA.

 

Wetzlar, Germany-The Oculus Corvis ST, a non-contact tonometer and optical pachymeter, has received the approval of the U.S. FDA.

The approval was based on a study at the University of Freiburg that proved exceptionally high precision of the IOP measurements in comparison with the Goldmann applanation tonometer.

This precision was achieved by using the new measurement principle of the Corvis ST, where the reaction of the cornea due to an air pulse is visualized with a high-speed Scheimpflug camera. This allows a more accurate determination of the exact time of the first applanation of the cornea compared with conventional non-contact tonometers. This precision is also basis for the accurate determination of the IOP.
