Latanoprost study compares efficacy and side effects

A study, comparing the three ophthalmic prostaglandin analogs, foundno significant differences in the efficacy among the three medications usedto treat elevated eye pressure, but patients on latanoprost had fewer reportsof hyperemia that those treated with bimatoprost.Pfizer reported the results of a multi-center study Sunday that comparedlatanoprost ophthalmic solution (Xalatan, Pfizer) with bimatoprost ophthalmicsolution (Lumigan, Allergan) and travoprost ophthalmic solution (Travatan,Alcon) at the ARVO. The results are expected to appear in the May issueof the American Journal of Ophthalmology
