Gareth Lema, MD, PhD, explains the importance of recognizing the signs and symptoms of eye stroke and timely treatment for patients. He also discusses the role of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and a novel eye stroke program at Mount Sinai Health System that involves collaboration among ophthalmologists, the stroke service, and emergency department physicians. Lema is Site Director of Quality, Safety, and Experience for the Ophthalmology Department at The Mount Sinai Hospital and a retina specialist at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai.
