Euclid Vision Corporation and Visionary Optics partner to launch 6 scholarships for optometric residents

The scholarships will be worth $1000 each and “aim to recognize innovation in myopia management and specialty contact lenses.”

Euclid Vision Corporation and Visionary Optics have partnered to announce the launch of 6 scholarships “aimed at recognizing and supporting the efforts of forward-thinking eye care providers in training.”

Three of the 6 scholarships will come from Euclid Vision while the remaining 3 will be offered by Visionary Optics, according to a press release from Euclid Vision.1

Scholarships from Euclid Vision include the Tim Koch Memorial Scholarship, the George E. Glady Scholarship, and the Joann Simonsen Scholarship, each worth $1000.

Jackson Lau, OD, FAAO, FSLS, Euclid Vision’s senior manager of professional relations touched on the scholarships in the press release.

“Euclid created its annual Resident Scholarship Program to encourage innovation and honor optometric residents who reflect the company’s enduring commitment to proactive myopia management,” said Lau.

Visionary Optics will also be offering 3 scholarships worth $1000 each. According to the press release, the scholarships “aim to identify innovators in the field of specialty contact lenses and were created to honor the enduring impact of Rob Breece, a pioneer of the modern specialty contact lens industry who was instrumental in initiating key advances in the field until his untimely death in 2009.”1

“Through this scholarship, Visionary Optics aims to empower and inspire the next generation of specialty lens residents ensuring that Dr. Breece’s legacy of ingenuity, dedication, and excellence lives on,” said Lynette K Johns, OD, FAAO, FSLS, FBCLA, Visionary Optics' director of clinical and scientific affairs in the release.1

Submissions for the Euclid Vision scholarships must incorporate the use of Euclid Ortho-K lenses. Euclid will provide complimentary lenses related to the pursuit of these scholarships, according to the company.

While the Visionary Optics scholarship requires case reports or clinical studies with the use of VO scleral lenses – Europa (standard), Europa Tangent, or Latitude (freeform) lenses. Unlike Euclid Vision, there is no mention of complimentary lenses for the pursuit of the scholarship.

The final submission deadline for all scholarships is May 1, 2024.
