Palm Harbor, FL-Essilor of America Inc. and Transitions Optical Inc. launched a new progressive sunwear line (Definity Fairway Transitions SolFX lenses) designed to meet the visual demands of golfers who need multifocal prescriptions.

The product features photochromic lenses to provide golfers with the right color and darkness for performing in varying light conditions. The technology creates a fourth zone of vision, called the ground view advantage, which gives wearers clearer vision when looking down, according to the company.

Like all Transitions SolFX sunwear products, the new golf product automatically adjust its degree of darkness to changing outdoor light conditions. Changing from amber to a darker brown outdoors, the lenses improve contrast and depth perception to help golfers see the contour of the greens, and see the ball better. The lenses also help to protect against the effects of ultraviolet rays and come with mirrors, which reduce backside reflections and improve scratch resistance and cleanability.
