New York-One ophthalmologist and 10 other eye-care professionals are helping to guide the scope and content of the International Vision Expo East meeting and trade show on March 10 to 13 in New York City.

Vincent K. Young, MD, who serves as president of the American Association of Dispensing Ophthalmologists (AADO), was named to a new Conference Advisory Board. The board helps to set the agenda for the meeting, based on new medical technologies, business, and consumer dynamics. It also helps select the best speakers to address these topics and supports affiliations with vision-care associations to boost the show's relevance and credibility.

For example, the board helped to enlist the aid of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, which has developed a series of new course work related to contact lenses. The board also advocated a low-vision educational track, new courses in glaucoma and cataracts, and more.

"Our advisory board represents the breadth and depth of experts in optometry, opticianry, ophthalmology, laboratory management, and retailing, so that professional developments and business acumen for each practice are individually addressed within our worldwide forum," Baird continued.

In addition to his work with the AADO, Dr. Young is in private practice at Einstein Ophthalmology Associates in Philadelphia. He also is chairman, division of ophthalmology, Albert Einstein Medical Center; director, Einstein Eyewear; and director, Office Providing Comprehensive Services including General Ophthalmic Surgery.
