AAO, APAO joint meeting: It's not too late to make plans

Online registration is open until Oct. 25 for the 2006 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) joint meeting with the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) in Las Vegas from Nov. 10 to 14. Here are some can't-miss highlights to help you plan your schedule.

Registration is easy and convenient from the academy's Web site, http://www.aao.org/annual_meeting/. And you will find everything you will need to plan your 2006 joint meeting activities. Here are some can't-miss highlights to help you plan your schedule:

Friday, Nov. 10

If you are registered for the Retina or Refractive Surgery meetings, you can float between all subspecialty day meetings on Friday and Saturday. The Retina meeting is located at the Wynn Hotel, across the street from the Sands Expo & Convention Center/Venetian, so make sure you allow sufficient time to "float" between the meetings.

Saturday, Nov. 11

Joint Meeting Exhibit Hall. Your subspecialty day badge allows you to visit the joint meeting exhibit hall when it opens at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. Make some time to visit the world's largest exhibition of ophthalmic technology, products, and services. Halls A-C of the Sands Expo & Convention Center. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through Monday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Subspecialty Day continues. While the Retina and Refractive Surgery programs continue, Glaucoma 2006: Beating the Odds begins, offering a comprehensive update on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of glaucomatous vision loss. Glaucoma meeting registrants can float among all three meetings on Saturday only. Venetian, Ballroom F.

Video on Demand. Watch surgical videos whenever you want from kiosks in multiple locations throughout the convention center. This service will be available Saturday through Tuesday.

Sunday, Nov. 12

Opening Session, Venetian, Ballroom A-C, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

New Spotlight Session: TASS and Endophthalmitis. This special symposium will tap 15 leading experts to provide the latest on the recent TASS outbreak, as well as the current controversies in endophthalmitis prophylaxis. Venetian, Ballroom F, 3:45 to 5:15 p.m.
